Older model had a harder, sturdier sole and more ankle support - actually prefer older model.

The older model is preferred-better soles, more padded insulation for warmth. Wish we could get the older model - which lasted nearly 10 years til the soles gave out.

The leather on the one I received looked already pre-worn out, with heavy creasing, grain, and very thin. Seemed that it would not provide the support or protection you want in a work boot. Leather also had a sticky oily finish. Returned.

For heavy yard work or hiking, these are hard to beat. Very comfortable out of the box; no break-in time needed. Lighter than expected. great value for the price.

To visit industrial sites requiring safety equipment

My husband hasn't worn these boots to work outside in yet, but with horses and ongoing projects here at home, I'm sure they will get a lot of use. Our first impression is that they're super nice looking boots. We were so excited to get such nice looking, steel-toed boots in a size 14 for such a great price. They seem like a GREAT value and they do run true to size and width.

I wear a 12, and it felt a bit large for a normal 12. But I wasn’t wearing very heavy socks, and you definitely don’t want a steel-toed boot where your toes are mashed up in front. It doesn’t breathe real well, but it’s a heavy boot, so that’s to be expected. Seems like a good value so far.

I use these boots 5 to 7 days a week working at a no-kill animal shelter at 10 to 14 hours a day. I am inside / outside in all kinds of weather and conditions. Boots are exposed to bleach, cleaners, all kinds of animal fluids and waist. I also do the construction around the shelter and get pleanty of where in that way too. Very little break in needed and these replaced an expensive pair of steel toe heavy equipment boots that lasted me 2 years.
