I used this for full-size curtains covering the sliding doors to my deck. Easy to install with sturdy mounting hardware included. Classy looking and sturdy. Outstanding value—most curtain rods in stores at this pice point are junk compared to this.

I ordered two of these rods in different sizes. The short size was fine but the longest one came in a box that was busted up, and so was the rod. The end piece was broke off and all three rods were of the same size so the rod could not fit together! The shipping box was not damaged but the plastic box the rod was in was a mess. That and the missing smaller sized rod, replaced with a larger rod leads me to believe the damage was not done during shipping.

The spindle on this curtain rod is rather small. Considering that it is intended to expand to such length I would have expected it to be a bit larger in overall size. I kept it anyway but was disappointed in that it is considerably smaller than fist size.

I am not an expert in curtain rods. For what I am using this rod for, it is perfect: Lightweight, great length and attractive. I needed to extend it to its fullest length and I did not want a heavy rod.
Sierra trading post will send you instructions. Basically, the "small" rod goes in the middle of the "big" rods. Take the finial off the small diameter rod, attach it to the "extra" rod (one end will have a black plug on it with a hole in the middle), now the small diameter rod is the middle extension rod. So easy, if there were directions. I got them emailed from Sierra!!

Unscrew knob from smaller diameter rod. Screw knob onto loose large diameter rod. Slide loose large diameter rod over free end of small diameter rod. You now have a three piece rod ( large diameter / small diameter / large diameter)that tightens at any length by twisting, like a shower curtain rod.

With my significant other, we put our curtains on the rods and then held the rod holders in place along with a bubble level, made sure the curtains covered the window the length desired, made sure the rod was level and then used a marker inside the holes. As far as placement of the holders we just measured up 2 inches and over 2 inches from the corner of the window. Centered the middle holder, 2 inches up. I'm sure you can find general instructions on line as well. Good luck!
