• Primitive but comfortable

I usually wear a 11 1/2 EE or EEEE. Since STP and most reviewers found this show large, I tried to 11 W. It is still to large in the toe, though basically wide enough. It's a bit too tight over the instep so that I need a shoe horn to get it on. The strap and buckle seem entirely superfluous. I can't tell the difference between wearing the shoes with the strap unbuckled or buckled. Once on, though it is quite comfortable. I like the feeling of support. I have plantar fasciitis and usually use the largest Dr. Scholl insert (440). Fortunately I'm fine without them in these shoes. The comfort comes from a snug, well-supported fit. There is not much in the way of cushioning or lining in this shoe. I'm counting on it getting a little easier to get in and out of. And at 31 bucks they're worth keeping around.
