Chaco mentioned ROland. They have a roomy toe box, they're light weight but supportive. They should work fine on moderately rocky trail when carrying a daypack. I don't know how they would be when carrying a full backpack, but for day hikes they should be comfy and do the job.

He normally wears a size 9.5 but it was not available so I ordered the 10 hoping it would fit and it did perfectly! He wore them all day the very first day and no issues at all. I have a nerve problem in my right foot that gets irritated with most any shoe/boot I ware. Not so with these as they are a littlr wider than normal and the fit is such that I can walk/hunt all day with no problem. Love these!

The toe box is wide keeping my toes from being squished together (a common problem with boots for me). Could use more arch support but insoles fix that.

My son loves the boot - let me say that right up front. The 3 stars is a split between a 5 star for product and 1 star for service. These boots were ordered in early December and were meant to be a Christmas present for my son. They arrived January 9th. I had no communication during that time. I only knew of the status of the situation by tracking the package and eventually when I called to find out what was going on. I've always been pleased with service form Sierra. This time, not so much. Come on, Sierra, you can do better than this.
