I was excited to find such a great deal on these sandals at Sierra Trading Post. I finally needed a replacement pair of Z-2 Chaco Sandals after finally wearing my original pair out after 11 years. I used the original pair all the time in the summer from general every day use, backpacking in warm w...

I had the Yampa before and they lasted a good couple years. Of course the sole came apart after awhile but they held together for a good year or so before that even started. I think the UNAWEEP is easier to adjust to fit. My ADVICE for breaking them in: "Get them WET". They are, afterall, River Rafting sandals. I will see how well the UNAWEEP's hold up. I will ONLY buy Chaco from Sierra Trading Post. $100 retail is WAYYY too much for sandals. Look around, you will not find better deals than here.

Just got mine a few weeks back. It took some time to get them adjusted just right. Now I can put them on and not have to adjust the toe and forward straps, just the top one where you tighten. It's a pretty cool concept: one continuous band that adjusts at one location but tightens everywhere.
These guys are pretty heavy-duty too. I have not put them to the test yet, but feel very confident that they will last a long time and take a beating. The soles remind me of the hiking boots that I have worn for the last fifteen years!! No doubt Chaco's are solid, real-deal adventure shoes that are made to endure.

I love my Chaco Z/2s. This is my second pair, and I plan to always own a pair. I got my first pair about 8 or 9 years ago, and they are still going. I only bought this pair in case my first pair needs a rest soon. After so many years of continual use in the spring, summer and fall months of backpacking and playing is rivers, streams and lakes there is only minimal fraying of one webbing. Still, the allure of having two colors won out and I bought my second pair.
In general, they take a week or so to break in if you like hiking. I'd recommend wearing them around the house and neighborhood for a while before doing any significant hiking in them to soften the soles. They come fairly rigid out of the box, but really quickly start to feel heavenly. They are the most comfortable sandals I've ever owned.
