    I had a pair of Z2 for 5 years before the dog ate one, and they were fabulous. I thought I'd try the Zong out this time. They have thinner soles with less traction, and naturally are lighter. The straps are also thinner. More comfortable for every day use, but not as good as the Z2 on a hike. They're kind of like buff flip flops. My Z2's were a size 6, normally I wear a 6 1/2 or 7, and in the Zong I wear a 7. The 6's were too small.

    I normally do not like shoes/sandals without a strap around the heel. These stay on my feet. I have a very thin foot (not narrow) and the straps can be adjusted to fit. I could use the straps a bit shorter, so that the final cinching doesn't leave a long piece hanging off my foot, but I tuck it in. I bought them in black and find I can wear them in many situations.

    The adjustable strap system ensures a perfect fit. These sandals are like walking on air. The arch support is outstanding. The straps hold the foot securely in place, with no sliding of the foot in either direction. Great for rugged treks, or a walk with the dog. Just love them.

    So I think the chafing on my pair is due to a small manufacturing defect. There's a bit of band sticking up by the toe that shouldn't be. Have to investigate whether I can force it back in myself or need to send to Chaco. Otherwise, they seem great. Won't really know until I can truly wear them in the spring.
