“Chose these as a neutral look for those business casual times when a western boot is too much. Also for motorcycling. My pair of Chippewa western wellingtons should have prepared me for the quality these boots ooze. The leather is thick and sturdy, but not at all stiff. Leather feel and quality is really beyond comparison, except for my other Chippewas. Boots were comfortable for walking right out of the box, with good support and insole. Leather lining is very soft. These boots will last a long time and are resolable. The sole is good for comfort but I wonder if it will wear quickly at the heel and toe since it's softer rubber or PU. Haven't seen wear in several weeks though.
Initially, these boots are very hard to put on. My fit is good--plenty of room in front of the toes and not tight side to side, plus my low volume foot, suggests this is a feature of boots rather than the shape of my feet. They are hard to put on because the zipper in back allows Chippewa to cut the fit very snug over the instep. This makes them better for walking than any other pull-on boot, better than any roper boot I've worn. Keeps the heel down, no flopping while walking. However, this tight instep feels very tight at first, and I struggled to put them on for the first few days. This has eased, but don't be surprised.”
