Bought these on a whim after seeing the price and other reviews. I'm 5'6", 145 lbs and the 8 fits extremely well. The material is thicker for snow, cold weather or mist when you don't necessarily want to wear rain pants.

I love taking these pants out snowshoeing or winter hiking. They are a nice stretchy softshell, durable, holds up to the elements, and light enough that I don't burn up underneath them. They are definitely water resistant, works well with a base layer underneath, and has just the right number of pockets. They do feel a bit short though, which is fine under gaiters, and I think they look a bit funny cause they're tapered. With that said, I bought 2 pairs already cause they are just that comfortable and functional.

Great in rain, wind, cold, sun. My go-to pants for hiking, riding, a.m. school drop-off. Cute on. Like the looser straight leg cut. Good fit for those with proportionally more thigh than hip/torso.

I bought these under the heading "ski pants". As uninsulated pants, these won't work for snow sports here in MI. The pants are comfy and stylish, so I am keeping them for other activities. I wear a size 12 now, but bought a size 10 since I am loosing post-pregnancy pounds. I can get them on, if snug- so go a size down in most cases. Great- but not for cold weather.

I bought these pants for spring skiing and alpine climbing and I think they will work well for both. They are a slim fit, but not tight in the butt and thighs like other softshell pant. I tend to overheat while I am skiing and climbing, so I like a pair of light weight pants, other folks who get cold will likely find these too light for any snow activity.

It is good for snowshoeing and x-country skiing. I wear a layer underneath but no need for one is hiking. They seem to work well in wind and snow.

These pants are very comfortable, and I really like the stretch the fabric has. The waistband is too large, as other reviewers have noted. I am using a belt, which makes the faric pucker in the back, but I decided to keep them & wear longer tops that cover the waist. I don't think these are really appropriate for snow sports, but would be excellent for hiking. I believe they will be very durable.

A tad too short but I'm 5'11" and I'm having them let out. They have a nice flattering fit that is sporty and can be worn in town without looking silly.
