You must use a adaptor for fuel in todays world, the first adaptor I bought leeked, returned it...I got a second one and it leaked! I'm talking guizer! I tore it all apart, and had to machine a deal to clamp it all togeather to seal it back up. Its a great stove if you are good at machining. I might try adapting it to try burning standard fuel.

I've used this for week long canoe camping trips, cooking for me and my sons. Crank through fried eggs and bagels while water is heating on the other burner. Very high heat output at max setting. Burner knobs are pretty touchy - but no problem once you get the touch. Probably a little bit big for backpacking.

I use these stoves when there are more than 3 people on our outings. It is great to cook on one burner and boil water on the other. Sometimes finding the coleman powermax fuel is difficult but a couple of stops and you usually find it.

Great Stove. Use it in the Himalayas. Works well in extreme cold weather. Good for larger parties of 4+ more. Only downside is that Powermax fuel is hard to come by and you need an adapter for this stove, which is cheap. Overall this stove is great.

Coleman Powermax Fuel HAS NOT BEEN DISCONTINUED. However they have added an adapter which allows any of the stoves to work with any canister fuel... you don't have to use Powermax. Nothing wrong with Powermax, and Powermax canisters work better than any other, especially when cold. But if it isn't real cold or if you are in a backcountry store that doesn't carry their fuel, well they answered the only complaint anybody could have about these stoves! I have the 2 burner, and for larger parties, (4-6) you can have coffee going & breakfast! It's stable, VERY adjustable. Pots balance on the semi round, not flat surface, even if the stove isn't perfectly level. For very large parties, like 8 or 12, take a conventional Coleman... With very large pots ( going across both burners on high) this will use a canister per meal at that many people. Not what it is meant for. 1 large Powermax canister ran my 2 burner exponent stove & little Exponent lantern on a 4 day canoe trip with 6 people, approx 6 meals.

After using this for several years, I've just purchased another as a gift. It is my first choice for canoe camping and day trips; it's rugged, folds into a compact package of reasonable weight, and provides two burners off of one Coleman Maxfuel cartridge. The more I use it, the better I like it.

Coleman had a winner with the design of this stove. EXCEPT they built it to only use their special fuel called Powermax. Coleman altered the design of the propane fuel connection point so only Powermax fuel cartridges could be used. When Powermax was available it was a great set-up. But Coleman has discontinued the Powermax fuel, so if you want to use a Xpediton stove you have to buy a fuel adapter for another $22.00 Still a great buy at this price, even with the adapter.

This stove was supplied in our outfitted trip in the Boundry Waters. With both space and weight being considerations it was wonderful. It quickly folds into a long, thin package. Having two stable, well performing, easily lit burners in the backcountry was really a treat. It was easy to level on less than level ground. The only reason I don't own one is because the fuel cells are not available in our area (Hawai'i) although I have seen them many other places.

Borrowed a friends for what turned into 50 miles in 3 days. First thing I did when I got home was get one for myself. Had two pots of water boiling in no time (one for food the other for cleaning). Easy to operate when totally bonked. Can prepare twice as much H2O in short time. Also great for campground gourmet (spag. and sauce cooked separately on a backpack trip?). Wonder, simple, reliable, multifunctional stove.
