these boots are just what i need after relocating to a colder climate. not soo rugged since i'm in a city, but providing enough warmth and not being really heavy are key.

Great for wearing to school, and even all day. Comfy for walking and hold up pretty well. I have a pair and bought these for my 9 year old. They will see heavy use.

I have used these boots for only snow trekking so far. I haven't gone hiking or skiing yet. So far, they have proven to be very good. They are warm, waterproof and tough. Those that are not used to high-topped boots might find them a bit of a tough wear at first. But one gets used to it after a while. The boots are slippery indoors on a wet floor for instance. So be careful.

I needed to replace my old snow boots, so I got two pair from STP... one really warm (800g insulation), and these which are like mini-pack boots. Right off the bat, nice and comfy. True to size. Feet stay warm if active. When just standing around, they do allow feet to get cold. 200grams is not enough insulation for really cold weather. but if you stay active, these will be good. The lining did pack out pretty quickly, and after only a few days, they feel bigger than when first wearing them. Biggest downer - NOT waterproof. I guess at that pricepoint, Columbia couldn't afford to put goretex in there. But at the STP price, a good buy.
