The first time I wore them I did 13 miles, and the second I did 10. They are very comfortable yet sturdy with the ankle support I need.

They arrived just in time for our latest "dusting" of snow. HA! My feet stayed warm, dry. That snow melted fast---we now have mud--my feet are still dry. Comfortable, no break in time.

I liked my last pair of Columbia work/hiking shoes and so I'm hoping these will wear as well.

I am a professional Horticulturist for a golf course. I'm on my feet for hours digging in garden beds, climbing steep wooded areas to trim trees, plant flowers, landscape, weed and trim. I need a tough shoe. This shoe is so well made, I know that when work starts for me shortly, it will be perfect for the job. I do have as yet to find out how water-resistant it is, but I know it will be comfortable and hard-working. It fit well without any break-in, and I wore it all day the very first day, while I was on my feet for hours. It's grippy on muddy ground. I believe it runs true-to-size, my only complaint might be that it's a bit snug in the toebox on my right foot, but I think that's just me. I still am quite comfortable in it all day long.

Would have given these 5 stars but they aren't waterproof and the arch could use a little more support. That being said I got them for a song and for the price they are a well-made boot. Haven't hiked in them yet but I don't think I'll have any problems.

I'd read from other customers that this hiker ran from 1/2 to full size too small. My normal shoe size is 8-1/2 (sometimes 8). Because of the narrow toe cap in many reviews, I took a chance and ordered a size 9. Boy am I glad I did, and what a fantastic product! It's perfect! Little break-in needed (none for initial short walks and modest hikes). Still, I broke it in often in preparation for a major 2-day hike. It's comfy, waterproof (not resistent - proof! I wore it in the rain and stayed dry). Great tread, great support, great quality. I couldn't ask for a better product, and I normally don't buy footwear online. Definitely order 1/2 to full size larger, esp. as you'll be wearing heavier hiking socks. Very highly recommended.
