We had much better experience with other Columbia shoes, but not this one. My son came home with a peeled front sole after one day at school and bottom fabric was exposed. I say that was just a defective shoe and we had a bad luck. However, when I looked closer, the toes were already chafed. Even without the peeled sole, I am not sure how long the shoes would have lasted. Another problem was the shoe laces being extremely easy to get untied. It is a nylon shoe laces and really slippery one. They are very short too so it is doable, but hard to double tie. This was a problem for the last Columbia shoes and I had to replace with something else. If your kids are old enough to tie his own shoe laces, it may not be too much of the problem. Yet, I think it would be very annoying. I sent back for refund and got a Keen instead. STP's response was super good though.

My eight year old is not into wild shoes so these fit the bill. Basic black with just a touch of silver. They appear to be well made and have good airflow so his feet should not get hot. I predict these will hold up well.

My older son has been wearing these since last year and they have held up well. I ordered these again recently for my younger son and hope they last as long. However, I did have to exchange for a size 2 although he wears a 1 in other brands.
