I was pleasantly surprised with the fit of these pants. Always a little hesitant about buying online I went ahead and purchased these in a large. I am 5' 8" and weight 145, with small thighs and a larger gut. These pants fit well and I told my sister to order the same for our upcoming hiking trip in Ireland.

I have several pairs of this pant. I still like them, find them comfortable to wear. I love the fact my lower back is covered. However, they are too heavy for hot summer wear. 12 oz fabric is pretty darn hot. I usually wear a size 10 in columbia, but I think I could have gotten away with an 8 in these pants. they creep downwards throughout the day and need a wash to make them tighten up. No belt loops, and I cant get the tie cinched down enough, it slips. I have the black, and the lighter tan, which is a nice neutral color. Not greenish. That said, the pockets and panty lines show through. Great for spring and fall.

My measurements: 5'7", 127 lbs, 37" hips, 29" waist. Based on the reviews, I ordered 2 sizes up (size 10) from what I was needing, but really, I think I could have worn a size 6 when it was all said and done. They would have been very form-fitting in the 6 but I think they would have looked good. I ended up just sticking with the 8 and not going down one more size...out of sheer laziness. As it is now, I can wear leggings underneath and they are about the size I need. Haven't worn these yet, but will be soon. Cannot wait.

back high enough so backpack does not push down but fits slight below waistline. Waistline stretches with pull string also. narrower leg then usual but still comfy even when stretching for next rock. nice pockets side and 1 cargo with zip. Femine pant for hiking or anything. Bottom has singe elastic a plus for keeping brush/thorns out, or shortening if your short. Light wieght good for summer hiking when I still need leg coverage. Would buy again.

These are very form fitting pants. The material is very stretchy so they are comfortable. The "back up" extension is a comfortable stretchy panel that rises higher on the lower back than most other pants. I have not worn them yet, but will do so for hiking in cooler weather, maybe even spring snow shoeing or spring cross country skiing. The look is very modern, almost technical, with pocket zippers up and down the legs. I'm 5'10 and about 140 lbs and the size 10 fits well. The look was not what I expected from Columbia, but it is an interesting pair of pants. With a little confidence, they could be worn around town for errands with a sporty top.
