I bought these pants to wear on a 9-day trip to Ecuador: Rafting, hiking, horseback riding, you name it.

They mostly held up well, except the stitching all over the pants began to unravel after only minimal use. I sense that there's something defective in the way the stitching was tied off.

    Otherwise these are great pants.

I had read a lot of great reviews on these pants and was excited to try them on. For me, the fit was a disappointment, though I like them in all other regards. The fabric is nice and thick and it doesn't feel like you're going around in leggings or yoga pants. The "Back Up" feature is really nice and I love the extra coverage back there. I have worn these hiking, around town, and to a theme park. Great for all these activities and I appreciate the cinches on the bottom.

As for the fit, I am 5'5" and 140 pounds, though pretty fit. I ordered a size 10. I am thick in the waist and don't have huge hips (39"). I felt like the pants wanted me to have more thigh/butt than I actually have, though they're fairly snug (not uncomfortably so) in the lower thigh, so there is loose material from the mid-thigh up that bunches. My thighs are far from thin but they're mostly just muscle because that's not where I carry my bonus material. There is a very pathetic string to cinch the waist. I usually ignore these altogether because of my thick waist but I have to tie it to feel like they're not slipping down. I really wanted a belt but there are no belt loops and it's not typical for this kind of pant. I'm providing all this detail so you can gauge whether you think this will be a good fit for your body type.

The bottom line is that they're not very flattering on me but I find them so comfortable and practical that I kept them. If they looked good, I may have bought a second pair. I was disappointed because these seemed like great pants for a lot of women. I feel like they're not loose enough overall to warrant getting a size down and in general for this style of clothing I'm currently a comfortable size 10. It's really more the shape than the size, so I feel they run fairly true and they are supposed to stretch and fit snugly. I think they're really a versatile item that are suitable for a lot of situations.

I love these pants by Columbia Sportswear. Plenty of secured pockets, sooooooo very comfortable you hardly notice you have them on. Well made and wash up wonderfully. You just can't go wrong with these. Plenty of stretch (but still retains their shape after hours of wearing) for comfort even in the most strenuous stretching and twisting as you climb rocks and scramble up steep trails. The first pairs I ordered have been washed several times and are holding up well. A huge plus - you can't go wrong with the "sale" prices of STP!

Couldn't decide between these and the "Gusto guide pants". Decided on the others instead due to their more substantial fabric. These were fine, although fit was a bit snug.

Love the more fitted feel to these pants, the stretch, and the back up feature. Being curvy it is usually hard to find pants that fit well in both the waist and hips but these do the trick compared to many hiking pants that are built very straight. Ordered 2 sizes to see which would fit. The 12 fit great ( my true size) and didn't have to size up like usual. The fabric feels durable yet soft and the placement of the pockets is flattering as well and are built slim to the leg. The regular length worked ok for me when I'm usually between short and Regular lenght. If you enjoy slimmer figure flattering pants, you won't be disappointed!

I really love these pants, typically not a columbia fan, I usually order Mamot pants... but these were on sale so thought I'd give it a shot. They fit well, but as others stated, they do run small. So order a size up.
I also bought the winter ones with the omni shield, love them so much I bought both colors.
The only drawback is the flimsy waitband tie, but I plan on replacing that... you won't be sorry if you order these. I am 5'9", wear a size 12, and ordered the 14. I plan on wearing these on my trip to Europe.

The pants feel awesome on. I got the lighter color that I can even wear to work. The legs are straight and not flaired or tapered in and have a draw tab to tighten around your shoes or boots while out hiking. Zippered pockets are great. The back sits nice and high so when your bending or stooping your not showing your granny janes. Very comfortable to wear. Enough stretch and give to be extremely comfortable no matter the use, but goes back to retaining shape. I love these and plan to get many years worth of enjoyment . Well made and true to size - I usually sit between a 14 & 16 and ordered the 14 which fits great.

These pants are sharp. I got them I'm black and they are quite appropriate for work, casual or the trail. There is plenty of stretch but the fabric retains its shape well. My only want for these pants are to be a little more boot cut than straight leg, maybe even an inch longer. I am 6' tall, 215lbs and very much an hour-glass figure and a size 16R fits great!

Very comfortable fabric and cut. The stretch fabric allows for easy movement but doesn't cling, and is nice on the inside against your skin. Multiple pockets are handy in our age of gadgetry. These pants wash well and can be worn for outdoor use or casual office attire. They do run a bit long. Overall, I love them - bought a spare pair and shorts from Columbia in the same style.

Nicely constructed pants that are tight in the thighs. I've returned and ordered the next larger size and hope they work!
