I got this for my oldest boy (3yo) and it fits as I hoped. I prefer turtlenecks myself for a winter upper base, and this low turtleneck seems to be adequate for preventing drafts and keeping his neck warm. I've never worn a garment with metal-like spots on the inside, but I can imagine they do re-direct heat back to the skin, or simply is a way of keeping the garment from venting as much. The synthetic material works as it should by transferring moisture away from the skin. All in all, it fits him well, and I believe it works as a base layer should. My youngest boy will inherit this as soon as my oldest grows out of it.
