Reviewed by Steve C from Colorado on Monday, March 4, 2013Light weight but warm for skiing the big ones. Lots of pockets in cool places. Really like the cuffs on the sleeves.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by stnc from north carolina on Monday, February 25, 2013I really wanted to like this jacket, however I ordered a Large and STP sent me a medium instead. When the jacket arrived, the color I wanted was already sold out. The medium couldn't even be zipped so it was a definite return!||Luckily I found another one on the STP site I'm probably even happier with anyway.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Steve S from Madison, WI on Monday, February 18, 2013This coat is warm (a plus). On a plus 0F day, fine standing out side. Once you start exerting, it's gets really warm in there. I bought this as my Winter Coat, holding up well.
I miss dual zippers on the main zipper.
Zip pits bonus. especially for something so warm.
Hood is velcroed in at the tabs (by your colarbone/cheek) see photo. Sling a backpack and you can easily pull out the hood tab, which is really annoying. My Columbia Shell has snaps. i've never pulled those out by accident.
Seems like it should be a little longer, i get a draft now and again up the small of my back (without the powder skirt), or when sitting down.
Zipper could use chin-guard protection. collar is pretty stiff (a plus), but rubs under my chin, especially when driving (sitting bunches the coat up a little) or sitting and moving your head around. Yes, i can snug my chin inside the collar, but when needing to move my head around, it's annoying.
Red is bright, a little orange to it. This was negative to me at first. Now i like it. The green borders don't bother me anymore either.
So many zipper pockets you could really load yourself down and forget where you put your item. This could be a plus or minus.
"Secret" pockets don't have cord-zipper pulls. hard to get to with gloves on.This could be a plus or minus.
Media Pocket just BARELY fits an iPhone4 with NO case. There are other nice pockets for it though.
Having the exterior chest pockets open from the middle is a little weird. Taking some getting used to (You have to use your left hand to get anything out of the right pocket.)
Watch the video that's on some websites for this jacket. it will give you a good feel for it.
These are nit-picks, i would recommend this coat.

Question “Are there any pit zips?”
Answer The jacket does not have pit zips.
Question “Is this fully seam sealed?”
Answer I would first recommend getting his torso dimensions length and chest width. This will then help you determine the size that will best fit him. To give you a measurement to base length off of a large has a length of 29". I hope this helps!
