Verified Buyer Reviewed by PeaceLily from Amherst, VA on Thursday, September 6, 2012Bought this for myself - I normally wear a size Small or medium for women. Size Small women's Columbia shirts fit me pretty well but this size 18-20 youth was too long and large. The next size smaller probably would've fit better. I will alter it to fit since it is a good value.

Verified Buyer Reviewed by willo from Boston's north shore on Monday, March 26, 2012I had to order a size larger than my son due to availability, but the proportions seem right (if a size to large for him.)
We had unseasonably warm weather last week, so put the shirt to the test. It was over 80 F on the first official day of spring. Our school, which is heavily wooded and in the middle of Lyme disease risk territory, hasn't done a tick-prevention treatment yet due to the unseasonably light winter/early spring. Yikes.
My son groaned when I gave him this long-sleeved shirt to wear. Being so big, he had to wear it tucked into his pants, but I pointed out to him that he would get extra tick protection that way anyway. He wasn't impressed by my logic, but he did tell me when he got home from school that he was pretty comfortable, in spite of the long sleeves. I think he likes this sun shirt better than Sunday Afternoons ones he had last summer.
Now that it is tick season, I'll wash the permethrin-treated "Bugs Away"/"Insect Shield"/"Buzz Off" clothing by itself about once a week. It is best to wash these clothes separately from regular laundry. The treatment also washes off in about 70 washes. The UPF sun protection is mechanical and will last the lift of the garment.
