These shorts most certainly run small. I can usually wear a size two in all their clothes (5'6" and 120 lbs) but these were way too small. I ordered a size 4 and 6 to see what fit better. The four are a snug fit, but they fit. The 6's are more comfortable because they are loose. I am not sure which ones I will keep if any, I feel kind of in between sizes. i love the shorts and the style. I might just have to make them work because I am not willing to totally give up on them. Just know if you order them that they are 1-1/12 sizes too small.

I really, really wanted these shorts to work, so much so that I ordered several colors, and when those didn't fit, two more in a bigger size, but they all went back. I usually wear a 6 to 8 in Columbia (5'7", 130 lb). I ordered the 8 based on other reviews I had seen stating these are a full size too small. The 8's were very snug around my low hip, but ok in the waist. I returned them for some 10's, but they were still a bit snug around my low hip and too big in the waist. I really liked the fabric (a slightly stretchy ripstop), the styling, and the length, and I could have lived with a roomy waistband, but the fit in the hips was too far off for me. I think these shorts would work for someone with narrow hips and a flat bottom - just order a size up.
