The windbreaker fabric is not especially comfortable or warm when worn on the inside, and I didn't care for the look of the windbreaker fabric when worn on the outside. To me, it looks like an ultra cheap/flimsy windbreaker when the windbreaker fabric is worn on the outside. I haven't actually tried wearing it in the rain, but the windbreaker fabric appears to be a thin/cheap non-stretchable nylon material that would have very little resistance to water. ("windbreaker" in this case is not indicative of a serious technical material by any stretch) Also, the "fleece" is more like a relatively open weave knit sweater material that is relatively ineffective in terms of it's insulating qualities. The sweater/jacket seems bulky and heavy for how warm it is compared to windblock fleece or other materials. The windblock layer is not bonded to the sweater material, so the two layers tend to pull away from eachother, and this seems to contribute to the bulky sensation one gets when wearing it. Also, it has a fairly generous cut in the waist area, and it has no waist adjustment features. I have a 34 inch waist, and the XL was probably about 4 inches too big in the waist for what I'd normally wear. It's not junk, but I never end up wearing it because I have so many other sweaters and jackets that are more comfortable, look better, and perform better. For example, I have an Arcteryx Covert sweater, and I love it.

I am a big fan of Columbia and have been my whole life. This sweater/jacket zips right in to the Interchange System. You can wear it as a part of the parka, or by itself. The only thing I would change is if they could somehow make the nylon side (it is reversible) waterproof. If you already have a Columbia parka, this is an inexpensive way to improve it, or give it more versatility.

This was a gift for my boyfriend, and he loved it! He thought it looked really cool, and liked that there were pockets on both the sweater and jacket side. He thought he would probably wear the sweater on the outside most often. He also liked that it was waterproof (big plus there!), and said that it was warmer than he thought. Overall, good buy!

Since receiving this sweater/jacket I have worn it just about everywhere. I was surprised how well it shed water. Being on the coast in the pacific northwest USA having good gear in the rainy season (1 Jan to 31 Dec) is essential. I have since put about 50 backwoods miles wearing it. Holds up to snags on Alder bushes and the abuse of my dog sleeping on it! I recommend this item. Add a bit of tech wash during your washing cycle and warm you will stay.

Columbia's EXS Rogers Peak Jacket is a fairly nice full-zip jacket. The sweater side is the nicest part of the product, and looks very classic. It's more of a knit than a fleece, like Sierra's title description mentions, but still kept me fairly warm. The rip-stop windbreaker reverse side I wasn't so crazy about. The windbreaker material feels slightly cold to the touch when putting the jacket on, and doesn't have they immediate cozy feeling I enjoy with most of my other Columbia gear. That being said, it gently warms with your body heat, so you won't be cold in the end. The other way around (windbreaker out/sweater knit in) wouldn't be a problem, and would be my choice if I took advantage of the loops available to attach it inside a compatible Columbia shell. The jacket fits surprisingly snug across the chest, gut and waist compared to others from Columbia. To be fair, I have a newlywed gut, but I won't be on "The Biggest Loser" anytime soon. I have a number of their soft shell offerings that fit more generously, and give some due to the material. With the windbreaker material in this jacket, there's virtually no give. I'll likely reserve it for casual wear, since I could potentially see one of the seams splitting while climbing or some other high-mobility activity. If Columbia were to revise this jacket to make it non-reversable with a fleece lining, it'd be a five-, heck six-star product. As it stands, the sweater side is nice, and was a good deal here on Sierra, but it's not my favorite jacket.

Excellent as a layer under a heavy winter coat or on its own in spring/fall. Not as large as some of the Columbia gear - more tapered like the Titanium gear. Perfect for athletic fit.
