Verified Buyer Reviewed by Kevin from Boulder, CO on Wednesday, October 1, 2014I just got this in the mail the other day and I've been wearing it ever since. It feels really nice and breathes like you would expect a fleece to. Totally worth it.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Joe G from Brewster, N.Y. on Saturday, May 10, 2014I own a number of Columbia products and they never fail in quality. This hoodie is the perfect top for those cool mornings or evenings. Great looking and the fit is perfect. Keeps you warm. The small zip pocket on the left side is nice to have for storing money or any other valuables. This is a value worth purchasing.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Outsideallthetime from Southern California on Tuesday, April 29, 2014I'm a large in a lot of makes, a medium in some. I chose the large. I'm 6'4" 210lbs,
I have long arms and a slender torso, and the large accommodates for that well.
I'm a 42 chest 34 waist and I like my layers to fit snugly so I
Probably could have gone with the medium but didn't want to risk it.
The hood is an appropriate size on the large. Arms are long and slender.
The red that isn't labeled "rocket" is bright red. Don't think it will be wine colored.
I haven't washed them (got the gray one too, which is almost white) so I don't know if they'll shrink.
I hope they do.

It is designed with a slim fit for, I assume, layering. I'm 5'11", 190lbs, with a 42" chest. I purchased the hoodie in the size large, which fits me. It'll be more comfortable when I drop 10-15lbs, so I'm at the threshold of being able to wear a large for this product.
I would say it fits as it should it should. I am 6' 1" and about 210 lbs with a 48" jacket size. I wear an XL typically and sometimes a XXL in the smaller fitting close. I am NOT fat at all but work out quite a bit. This fits me perfectly in an XL. Hope that helps!
It's definitely a fuller cut - more of a "mens" vs a "young man's" sizing. That being said it has a anatomically reasonable pattern to the cut. It's not cut like a complete sloppy box. My son who is 15 wears a Large in tee's; he has a muscular build; and the large fits him like teen boys tend to like - roomy. The hem at the sleeves is excellent. It has a a small section - maybe 1/5th of the entire cuff hem - with a very loose piece of covered elastic. If you didn't look for it, you probably wouldn't know it was there. But it keeps the sleeves where you want them, either at the natural hang point of pushed up. The hood is excellent. Again, it has a nice pattern cut to it. It's full but drapes nice and the front opening at point of sew-in to the body of the sweatshirt is open and slightly lower for a perfect drape. This is one sweatshirt where my son doesn't have to pull at the neckline to get the hood to stop pulling against his neck in the front area.
I'm picky about the fit and quality of clothes when it comes to review. There are items I buy my son that I know aren't made with any great fabric or material, but he likes them and they serve their purpose of making it through 6 months or so before his next "growing season". So, when I praise a garment for it's quality, it is true. My mom - long since retired - was a dress designer/pattern maker - and I grew up in the environment of understanding patterns; detail; and craftsmanship.
Regarding the fabric, the Fast Trek uses a mid-weight fleece. It's about a 200 weight (vs the thinner, 100 weight of the NF Claw Hoodie which my son also likes and wears). The nap is somewhat heavy - meaning the fleece is high(er) loft, somewhere between a 100 weight fleece and the heavier, loftier fleece of say a fleece blanket.
Not that you asked, but the chest side pocket is designed and sewn with extreme quality. The zipper is heavy and top-of-the-line for a manufacturer zipper. (Meaning, not plastic and poorly sewn in). My son wears these (he has about 10 of them) every day to school as a "winter coat" (since he goes from car to school and school to bus), and then wears it during the day in class and stuffs in his backpack when he's not wearing it. He says it's like having a blanket.
To be honest, I'm not sure why Columbia closed out this model. In fact, now that I think about it, I'm going to grab some more before they aren't available any longer. I'm not always a Columbia fan. There are some products I don't find made very well or designed very well, but this is definitely an excellent one in design, fabric and wear.
