I usually am very happy with Columbia and this size in their snow pants. These pants do not fit right. They bunch and have a weird flare at the ankles. Also run shorter than same size in Columbia's other snow pants.

The snow pants are a bit light weight, tho I am not a pro on all of the state of the art fabric available today. Perhaps they will be fine. But, They are not as heavy as my own ski pants. My son wore them a couple of times when it was very cold here 10 degrees, say, while snowboarding. He did not complain that he was cold. I would recommend if your child is not going to be exposed to extreme temperatures for long period.

I bought these pants for the upcoming season. My son has switched from skiing to snowboarding and these pants worked out well except the sizing. I went on the cautious side and bought the size down. I should've bought the next size up. The pants came in 14/16 or 18/20. Since my son is a 16, I bought that size. They are too short even with the extra 1.5" seam taken down. I should've bought the 18/20. Other than that, no complaints.

These are great quality, but the size 8 barely fit. He will not be able to wear next season as I had planned. I bought Columbia bibs in a 10 for my daughter and they were too big. Sizings are a little off, but good quality.
