Columbia Sportswear Half Track Backpack

Bought this for my son to get back and forth via bike to the library with his computer. Appears waterproof, heavy-duty zippers, well-made with many fleece-lined, padded compartments for computer components. Separate laptop sleeve fits macbook 15" perfectly, no sliding around, good padding. Small front zip pocket is soft-lined for cell phone or headphones. The outside buckles are large and strong--would hold a board easily or also extra clothing/wet boots/equipment/bike lock. It's not a large pack, nor bulky, it's fairly narrow in width and depth. A 3-ring binder or more than a couple books would be a tight fit in the center compartment, so probably not the best for a school bag. Fits a slender person's frame well and the shoulder straps are curved and well-padded. For schlepping a computer plus minimal study equipment or for a bike commute this pack is great and does not shift on the body while riding. I've borrowed it from my son several times, very gender-neutral despite the board attachments on the outside front. Great value and a good alternative to messenger-style.

This is an odd product. It has a great laptop compartment for the student/commuter, but it also has external snowboard/ski straps on the back for weekends and backcountry. It has countoured shoulder straps and sternum strap like a hiking pack, but capacity on the smaller side and is divided between two compartments. Mesh water bottle pockets work for all occasions. The inner organizer pockets lack flaps and no dedicated pen/pencil slots. Small, fleece-lined external pocket is great for sunglasses or cell phone. In terms of construction, the pack is bomber. The black and black plaid is stylish.

The bag is comfortable when it´s on your back. However it´s smaller than expected, and have only one compartiment for stuff like books, notebooks, etc, the computer compartiment fit exactly for a 15' pc.

I used this for 5 days at Disneyland. Was slim enough to fit with me on the rides and comfortable enough to wear for 15 hours a day.
