I just recently used this product on an 8-hour hike through the cold, windy mountains of Alaska and they worked quite well. Not very breathable, but that was good for my situation. Being water and wind-proof is a plus, but these pants are made with chemicals that are harmful to animals and the environment...

Rain pants for bicycling need to be longer than I can ever find them - several inches longer than my regular 29" inseam - because they have to completely cover regular pants while snapped or clipped closed. I have a pair of extremely expensive made-for-biking rain pants that do no better than these. These now live in my desk drawer and get me home (relatively) dry even when I foolishly head to work in the morning without the others. It's definitely nice to be able to get at my pockets, and the snaps at the ankle are quick and easy to close and open.

It wasn't so much that the waist wasn't right, or that the inseam wasn't right, but the cut overall was just "off." The waist came up too high and/or the crotch was too low. We bought two pairs, and they were not consistent.

the product is made of polyvinyl chloride, which is known to be very bad for the environment, and to cause cancer in animals. The rain pants came with a warning saying it caused cancer in animals. Does this mean I should not let it touch my skin? What are the dangers to me and how do I avoid them. Is it safe? Are the benefits of staying dry worth the risk? I would like more information.
