I wish these boots were made in a wide and I can't tell if there's a comfort/shock absorbing mid sole in these or not. But, this is about as close as I was able to find in a comfortable and attractive chukka. And I've looked extensively.

Columbia has redesigned the traditional desert boot and made it more comfortable with contoured leather uppers and formed insole (credit a wide-format but neutral shoe last) that cradles your foot. Could use a little more arch support but this boot will not fatigue your foot on a long trail. Since I use this boot outdoors almost every weekend, I sealed the outer seams with a good boot wax. Now they're waterproof and when paired with wool boot socks, my feet are nicely warm on a crisp winter day. You won't be disappointed...
