I will use these shorts as a bathing suit as well as just regular short. I usually cut out mesh netting, but the mesh briefs in these shorts is pretty comfortable for me so I kept them in. The belt is a typical sewn-in sliding buckle, it tends to loosen over time but I don'd mind.
