Columbia Sportswear Peak Ascent Shell Jacket - Titanium (For Men)

I'm an alpine climber and I bought this jacket as an replacement of my old jacket. It suits all I needs and you can use this jacket all kind of winter activities.

I purhcased this jacket as a backup to my insulated ArcTeryx Fission SL, but this could be my go to jacket. The fit is great, as I dont like the trend towards these fitted jackets. I am 5'8" 150 lbs and took a sz medium. Its very comfortable and allows me room to wear an insulating layer if necessary. The zippers are fine and I like the two way zipper in the front. The bright yellow/green color is awsome and I have received many compliments. Breathability is good and the chest vents work well. They are much more convenient than pit zips. I do endurance riding, 100 mile rides, and the jacket works well while I am trotting and cantering my horse through the desert and mountains. Its easily packed in my saddle bags when not needed. Durability so far is good as I have had some close encounters with cacti and thorny trees. My one complaint, not really a complaint, is that I wish the hood was removeable. Overall a great jacket for the money and then some.

great jacket. im 6-2 and 170 pounds, and the medium is great for a slim fit with enough room for a wool sweater and a thin down sweater. the large had too much room in the mid section. as other people have said, very water proof, good pocket configuration, pit zips that are not in the pits so more cumfy. the two things that maybe cons are the fact that it dose not have a snow skirt, so its not great for down hill skiing, but nice for other activities not having the extra bulk in the mid section. one thing to note is that this jacket is half soft shell half hard shell. the mid section and hood is soft shell and the arms are hard shell. i like soft shell best because it seems more durable than the other, but with hard shell it is lighter and better for packing. so it kinda depends on what your using it for. hope this helps.
