Verified Buyer Reviewed by Guest from Northwest on Wednesday, April 8, 2015I bought the yellow jacket for it's visibility. It is indeed very breathable, which makes it ideal for rainy days in the spring and summer. As most Columbia jackets the arms are nice and long. The only slightly annoying thing about the coat is that the material is a little noisy, but the positives outweigh the negatives for me.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Beiste08 from North of Boston on Tuesday, November 18, 2014First to know is that I think this jacket runs small, so you might want to size up, especially if you plan on layering. Sometimes I feel I'm stealing when I purchase from STP - this is one of those times. Retailing at $350, I got this for a third of the price - thanks STP! The pouring rain cleared up yesterday before I received the jacket, so I can't attest to it's water proof/repellent properties, but, based on the Columbia reputation, I suspect it will do the job. This jacket has everything I was looking for in a rain jacket - long enough to cover the butt, but allow freedom of movement; PIT ZIPS (gotta be able to ventilate; 2 chest pockets including ear bud port; hand pockets; inner stash pockets; adjustable everything/drawcords; attached hood. Yes, as other reviewers indicated, the fabric is a little stiff, but that's what's going to keep me dry; and the zipper feels sticky - I suspect that will improve with use or a little oil - the zipper is rubbery, for waterproofing, so that's probably the issue. In the picture, the jacket looks more pencil yellow, but in reality it's more of a puce green (yes, puce, not puke!)
Reviewed by PNW Kristel from Washington on Tuesday, October 28, 2014I had, and used this jacket for around a year and a half before it was stolen out of my car. When I was faced with the reality of needing a new one, I explored every other option out there. As a snowshoer and frequent winter hiker from Seattle, a solid waterproof rain shell is a must.
While considering other options, I kept coming back to this jacket. Everything I wanted was based off this jacket - the hood, the fleece-lined collar, the velcro wrists, the drawcord, the fit, the wearabilily in various conditions, and most important, the breathability and price. I wore this jacket in sopping wet PNW conditions, during snowshoe trips with just a light layer, and for walking the dog during drizzle and rain during a Seattle springtime. This jacket passes all my tests and when it came down to getting a new one - I had to come back to what I know and like. I used to have the lime and it was cute and bright in the woods, always stood out in photos. This time around I opted for black so that if I have to walk to work in it, it's a bit more toned down. I used this thing for everything!
On top of it all, the jacket can now be found for less than I originally spent - it's a screaming deal for what you get out of it.
Reviewed by Hope from NY on Wednesday, February 26, 2014I bought the one which is light gray and lime green with cranberry trim, which looks good. But when I put it on, it was definately stiff (like it was OLD fabric, over-the-hill) and the sleeves are snug as is the bottom of the jacket. I like the option of wearing layers underneath and this is only good for single layer (for me). But the only reason why I ordered it was for warm rainy weather, so that is why I am keeping it. I have another Columbia for cold weather which is soft and warm.
Reviewed by SRPLisa from western Oregon on Monday, October 7, 2013I bought this jacket in the loud lime color as I am a dog walker and visibility is needed in our rainy, foggy winter days. I need lots
of pockets and this jacket does not disappoint. Pit zips are a must. I am 5'4 142lbs and purchased a large. It is roomy enough for
a medium weight sweater, but unless the temps drop below 50, that won't be necessary.
I didn't give it 5 stars because the material is fairly stiff and the zipper doesn't glide like it should.
