Columbia Sportswear PFG Fishing Shorts - Blood and Guts, UPF 30 (For Men)

Overall, I like these shorts. I wore them for a whole day just to "get to know them". They were true to size, light, thin nylon, and I'm sure they will dry quickly. They were very comfortable and did not bind anywhere. As a pair of casual wear shorts, I found the slash pockets to be shallow. They were about 3" deep at the back of the pocket and I worried that I would loose some of my money or car keys while I sat/slouched. The front zipper did not unzip as low as you would expect, 'nuff said. As a pair of fishing shorts, I would have liked a mesh liner so I don't have to go out and buy my own. Belt loops are welcomed when I carry pliers and tools on a (narrow) belt. Carry your car keys, money, and wallet in plastic bags zipped in the cargo and back pockets. Plier pocket on the right leg is located at the right spot, making it easy to reach pliers or other stuff. You should not use this pocket for needle nose pliers without a "pocket protector". You can get a nylon holster and face the belt clip outward to clip onto the front edge of the pocket so you and draw and holster you pliers easily. Thumbs up.

Good shorts. I got size 34 which fit me well (5'8", 175lbs). I overlooked the fact that the inseam is only 9" which feels a bit short but otherwise good. Note: sizing with Columbia seems to be a hit or miss. 34W Columbia shorts fit me perfectly yet 34W Columbia pants feel like 36". Would be nice if it had built in belt.

Had an old pair of Sportif shorts that had loads of pockets and was my favorite shorts for many activities in the summer. They wore out. This is a fine replacement. Look forward to many years of use.
