I had searched extensively for some lightweight sun blocking pants for kayaking. It was very frustrating as no one seemed to have my size. I also found them to be very expensive so I decided to shop online. I had bought a gift from Sierra in the past and remembered it to be very cost effective an... Read More

I'm a 50-year-old woman who just started treatment for rheumatoid arthritis. One of the medications requires that I protect myself (more than most people need to) from the Florida sun. I bought these to wear over a swimsuit on our boat and I am so pleased. I normally wear a 16 and I took a chance with size 1X; I'm glad I did take. Normally, I wear petite however, since these pants can be converted into capris, I didn't have to hem them. They are a relaxed fit and I could've gotten away with a smaller size but I'm keeping them. It's nice to have something a little loose in the summer heat. These pants travel well and they dry quickly however, the fabric is too thin for me to feel comfortable wearing them casually. (Even with flesh colored undies.) On a boat, over a swimsuit, they're aces.

Columbia needs to focus more on the fit for curvy women (with a small waist). These pants are nearly straight from the waist to hips. Other than the waist, these pants fit fine and, after alteration, will be ideal for travel and cool weather river wear. The fabric is nice, but I wouldn't recommend these to anyone that measures any more than 2-3" difference between waist and hip.
