Most Helpful 4-Star Review
Reviewed by Hoss from Ohio on Tuesday, February 11, 2014Loved the jacket, well made, fit great but just too loud for hunting. Sending back.
Reviewed by Red Clay Hound from Georgia on Friday, January 17, 2014This is a nice looking jacket. I've had compliments every time I've worn it. The fabric is great and it seems to be warm. The only downside is that the sleeves are a little tighter than I prefer. When I put it on it tends to push my shirt sleeves up. This will probably be an advantage when layering under a heavy parka.
Reviewed by Deer Hunter from Massachusetts on Thursday, January 16, 2014I own several Columbia Omni-Heat jackets and I really like them. Columbia always has great quality construction and this jacket is no exception. However I was looking for a warm, QUIET (fleece like) hunting jacket with wind blocking ability. This jacket meets the warm (for a mid-layer) but does not meet my expectations for quiet. The surface is very plush however the Omni-Wind membrane makes the jacket rustle when you move. For those of you who have a Gor-tex hunting rain suit you know what I mean. It's not as quiet as say a fleece and when a branch slaps against it the sound is discernible. As a bow hunter I want stealth quiet in my clothing and the material this is made with is not that type of jacket so I'm returning it.
Reviewed by Jingle Jangler from Georgia on Tuesday, October 29, 2013I am sending this back. The outer material looks and feels like a brushed synthetic, which is usually quiet on other products like it that I own. However, this jacket is very noisy. Just touching it sounds like you are crumpling card board. When wearing it, if you brush the sleeve against the body of the jacket it sounds like you are dragging something over carpet.
There are not very many reviews on this jacket. The Columbia website has two, and both are positive. Neither mentions whether the jacket is quiet or not. One reviewer described wearing it during a man drive (driving deer towards another hunter), and for something like that this is fine. If you are still hunting this jacket will probably not work.
The jacket seems very sturdy and well made. It is full cut, so you can order your normal size. I can not comment on how warm it will be, but it is lightweight. It felt like it a two layer. The outer material (camo) and the inner "Omni-Heat" shiny material.
Overall, I think this is worthy of 2.5 stars, so I rounded up to 3. It's a nice jacket, but it's a hunting jacket. It should be quiet and by the philosophy it fails.
