It is lightweight and yet warm. I like that the hood is also insulated. The extra pockets are nice, too. I wore the jacket in 20 degree weather and felt warm. During the sub zero temps, I wore it along with my Columbia Sportswear Wind Protector Fleece Omni-Heat® Jacket, also in red hibiscus. They look nice together. I generally wear a 10. I purchased a large so I could put bulk underneath. It fits, but is slightly big.
