I purchased these pants for a Boy Scout High Adventure camping trip in Colorado. They proved to be worth their space in my pack. They provided great sun protection while whitewater rafting and could be converted into shorts easily. Previous reviews state that the legs were tight on the upper thig...

Took these pants on a trip to Italy. They packed well and were very useful. I'm petite so I did have to get these altered since they were regulars but I expected that. Still worth the price even with the alteration.

I have a pair of size 8 zip off leg pants from Columbia that I had to take in over an inch and a half along the entire back seam, so I was hopeful that the size 6 would be a better fit. These are way too tight throughout the thigh and buttock. I am 5'4" and 125# and the 6 was too small.

The Columbia Sportswear Psych to Hike Convertible Pants will be water-resistant to a point. thanks for asking

NOT waterproof; however, slightly water-resistant. The small amount of moisture we received attempted to "bead-up" however by no means were they waterproof.

If you're looking for true water-resistance, as if the fabric has been treated with WR product, I'd say no. No description about this pant on any site that I found has water-resistance in the specs. However, it seems like it's resistant to handle a light rain or un-prolonged humidity or moisture. (A long day in a rain forest will probably end up making you feel a bit clammy.) And the nature of the weave of most hiking pants like this is to tolerate some level of moisture. If it rains though, they'll get wet. But they'll dry quickly.

At the waist on me!

The pants were to my waist, but it depends on the length of that part of your body, the size you order and your build. If you are curvy, order up a size. You really need to try any of these pants on. Having said that, they did not seem to me to be designed to be "low rise" and hang on your hips. These pants did not fit me well so I had to return them.

They do fit up high at the natural waist.
