Wanted to like this rain jacket, but it is so snug through the hips that it only feels comfortable when standing or walking. I feel like sitting down will put too much stress on the seams. It might be a good fit for someone less pear shaped.

Love this jacket - its versatile and lightweight. It has no insulation so in the cold you will want to wear a fleece or sweater under it. I found the cut to be flattering and love the longer length. This is a great jacket to stash in your daypack or carry on since its so lightweight and compresses down pretty small. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the color (which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5) - the picture is more of a darker grey, but the actual jacket color is lighter than the pic and a bit more greenish/blue. Even so, its a keeper. Great price and as a Columbia product, I expect it will last for years.

Cute jacket but unlike most Columbia products seems to run quite small. Order a size up if it's available.

I've had several shells in my adult life, but I finally realized that in order to keep my bottom dry, I needed something long enough to help me sit on wet benches, etc. This jacket is warmer than any other shell I've had, enabling me to use it as a solo jacket even when it's high 40s. Once it gets colder I throw my fleece underneath. Very rainproof, extremely comfortable, generous enough to fit over a bulky sweater but really nice lines, making it feel slim. I am 5'3", 130ish pounds, and a size Medium is great for me and my larger chest. I just love this jacket so much, I reach for it all the time in rainy Seattle (where we don't believe in umbrellas).

This is a fabulous rain jacket especially for the price. First of all I was able to get it in an "army" green, a color I love but one that is hard to find. I debated about this jacket for about a year, then when I finally decided to purchase it they only had it in a size Large in the green color. I usually take a Medium depending on cut, but the Large really works well for me. It's not too big and I can wear a sweater or fleece underneath. The styling is up to date and honestly I would like to own a Medium for late Spring / early summer showers!

Asked on 4/17/2012 12:00:00 AM by Anonymous from Denver, CO
    • Answer This would be a great backpacking jacket. But, unfortunately the zippers are not sealed, but the do have a storm flap that will keep a good amount of water off. The material is not rip-stop either, Thanks for asking and have a great day.
Answered on 4/18/2012 12:00:00 AM by Prod. Spec. Ryan from Sierra Trading Post
    • Answer I would not use this jacket for backpacking. The material is pretty thin and the zippers are not waterproof. Additionally it is not designed to be worn under a backpack so the zippers and pockets are where the pack would sit.
