The nylon is light weight and supple so they have good drape and don't get stiff when wet. They pack into nothing and weigh very little but at the same time have pockets (yeah!). The front pockets are deep enough to hold onto change and the back pocket has a zipper. Sizing is just like other Columbia shorts I have - generous waist circumference with a straight fit. I have a straight build, wear a 12 and got the large and they're loose and non binding - I'll need to use the draw cord if I load up the pockets. I don't find that the leg openings gape overly. Love the fun graphics too!
