Not Bad . . . But Not Wonderful

I've owned several Columbia products which lived up to billing. These shoes are a recent purchase so it'll take time for a full eval. I wear a 9 so ordered a 9.5 and it still feels a bit too snug even with just lightweight ankle length socks. If you have a high instep like I do you're probably going to find these a bit uncomfortable. However they may yield some over time. The laces are too short (mentioned in another review) and if you do any trail running you most likely want to double knot them which isn't going to happen.
I am anxious to try them out in wet weather -- but as is true with all weatherproof clothing, the shoes don't breathe well and my feet get a bit warm.
The heel cushioning is good so that's a plus. Perhaps I should have given these a bit longer on the job before rating, but first impressions are often the most lasting.
So as I said -- all in all they're okay but not the most comfortable outdoor exercise shoe I've owned over four decades. I bought these because I had a pair of Columbia ankle length lace up casual shoes and they were very comfortable. I'd recommend that the company put some tigter quality control in their outsourced manufacturing.
