    I'm a 32 waist but these fit like 34's. I like the nylon/cotton blend though and the mesh pockets for the upcoming hot weather. I would recommend, just err on the smaller size.

    Great shorts, but beware: Columbia men's clothing runs BIG. I order the next size down and they are often still too big (shorts, pants, shirts.) This pair of shorts in size 30 measures 33 inches from button to button hole. The other size 30 I ordered measured 35 inches. I can either send them back or pay to have them adjusted. A pity they can't size properly since they make such neat stuff. One would think their vendors would get tired of dealing with returns, and ask Columbia to fix their sizing. Okay, I feel better now.

    My search for the perfect adventure shorts took me here. Great shorts, great fabric, no elastic waist, but very irregular sizing between the two pairs I bought: One was obviously mislabeled with the wrong size, so I get to send it back. Also, Columbia shorts tend to run large -- order the next size down, in my opinion. My only other issue is that the right back pocket could be a bit deeper to fit larger wallets.

    I could pull out 3 inches from the front of my 32 waist with the breen color i ordered. Otherwise a very nicely constructed short with plenty of pockets that don't stick out like they're there. Gonna try a smaller size.
