Well, there isn't any snow yet, but I think these will do the job. They are lightweight, although they do feel bulky to me on the bottom. This is because I am only 5'1", so I expected them to be long based on other peoples 5'3" tall reviews. I felt like the waist was smaller than what I was expecting. Each size covers two sizes. I usually wear the smaller size and sometimes even one size down from that. The waist just fits me with NO adjusting of the inside velcro...maybe it's just my large hips though...I like how these vent and I think they will work GREAT for playing outside in the snow with the kids, sledding, building snowmen, fort building, etc...

Fantastic pants for the price. I bought the 16/18 and they fit perfectly. I found sizing to be spot on according to Columbia sizing chart. Adjustable waist which is good because my hips are proportionately larger than my waist. Great leg vents. Plenty of pockets. Not sure I'll use the belt because of adjustable waist - might be a bit fiddly but looks good anyway. Pants are far too long for me but I am only 5' 3" so that explains it.

  • Question “I am considering buying these pants, but I am hesitant about what size to order. I am 5'6" 163lbs. I guess I need L, but I usually fit in US 10 jeans or pants, sometimes I need 12. What is the waist and hips measurments on the real garment? That would be helpful. Thanks.”
Asked on 9/5/2011 12:00:00 AM by Anonymous from Unknown
    • Answer Hi, if you still need advise, I just bought these. I am 5'4": and 154. Typically, I wear size 10. If you get the 12-14, you will find the waist big. But, there are velcro cinches on either side and a belt can be adjusted down. See my review of them that I just posted. I think we are just inbetween sizes here. None of the pants I looked at came in 10-12 except the very expensive ones. Good luck.

  • Question “Just wondering about the length of these pants...I need at least a 35" inseam since I'm 6'feet and I know most pants are too short. I know North Face makes them long but who wants to pay those prices?”
Asked on 12/25/2010 12:00:00 AM by Sunpeaks from kamloops, bc
    • Answer These will not be long enough as a 32" is the longest length these will come in. You may look at a men's size as they are generally longer.

  • Question “I am considering buying these pants, however, based on reviews I am hesitant about what size to order. I am 5'6" 125lbs. My initial impulse was to order a size S. A review on the site has a customer of similar size ordering a XS. Do you have any recommendations?”
Asked on 12/12/2010 12:00:00 AM by Anonymous from Unknown
    • Answer I would recommend a small to have room to layer under and with the belt you can tighten it up.
Answered on 12/27/2010 12:00:00 AM by Customer Care from Sierra Trading Post
    • Answer Pants do seem to run big, but leave room for layering if needed. I personally would go with a small because I'd rather they be a little big than too small.
