I bought this jacket for my son for a week long Boy Scout camping trip. He needed something lightweight and packable with sealed seams as they were going to be hiking 40 miles and canoeing another 10 miles. The jacket worked out well for the trip. It packed easily into a small side pocket of his backpack and kept out the rain. Unlike most kids rainjackets the fabric is flexible so we've since been using it for a rain jacket/windbreaker. He is 5'1" and 90 lbs and normally wears a 12/14 Slim so I allowed room for growth and bought him the 14/16 and the jacket fits him with enough room for a hoodie underneath. The sleeves are a little long on him and come to the middle of his hand but the adjustable cuffs prevent this from being a problem. It also falls to just the tops of his thighs. His younger brother wears a 12 Husky and the 14/16 jacket also fits him again with room underneath for a hoodie or fleece. It was 80 degrees and pouring this morning so he wore it to school without any extra layers - no complaints about it being too hot. I originally bought just the one but they like it so much I'm buying a second for his younger brother. I bought this in Grey with the Blue Lining. The blue lining is quite bright.

We looked at buying a 4 in 1 coat, but found this waterproof jacket(like it because its not just water resistant, but waterproof)paired with the columbia fast trek fleece jacket to be a better buy. He's very happy with it and finds it comparable to his last columbia 4-in-1 jacket that he grew out of that is no longer made by that company.
