    I wouldn't really call this a soft shell. It is comfortable and allows a wide range of movement, but the exterior fabric falls somewhere between soft and hard. It is very warm, but if you overheat, the pit zips allow a lot more cold air in than some other jackets I own. I wish it had a dedicated attachment point for my season pass.

    The coat is great! Warmer than I expected for a light weight coat. However, the sizing is a bit small for the U.S. I normally wear a large but had to reorder an XL because the chest and sleeves were too tight.

    Great jacket, especially considering the price! The soft shell material does have a little stretch to it, despite other reviews. And as far as I'm concerned, there's no need for something to keep the sleeves in place since there is an internal sleeve liner that seals the sleeve from wind and snow. I've worn this jacket skiing, ice climbing, and just around town and its the best bang for the buck jacket I own. It breathes nicely too. Even on a 45 minute hike above the lifts, I stayed pretty dry, which wouldn't have happened with any of my hard shell jackets.

    All the high-end manufacturers should offer an insulated softshell. For casual wearing, this jacket requires no layering. And if it is bone-chilling cold on the slopes, a light-weight fleece layer adds plenty of warmth.
