Columbia Sportswear Upward Surge Hoodie Jacket - Soft Shell (For Men)

Really awesome jacket. I've fallen in love with soft shells myself. I got this one for husband, and he's worn it everyday. It's the perfect weight for a guy that's really not into coats but needs something to stay warm during colder weather. He's a taller guy with longer arms and the sleeve length was great.

Nice outlayer on moderately cold and windy days.

Not your typical jacket. NIce simple lines, very clean looking. Quite warm and very windproof.

Comfortable and neater than normal hoodies

This is my second Columbia Upward Surge Hoodie. Obviously, I can't get enough of a good thing. These soft, durable, attractive hoodies rock as casual wear, camping/hiking, and second cold-weather layer. I wouldn't classify this hoodie as technical gear, but it's a great full zip hoodie/soft shell to add to your clothing arsenal.

This jacket is perfect for cold weather backpacking down to the upper 30's. I've never had a jacket with a hood other than rain jackets and now I'm a believer. The hood gives the jacket an extra 10 degrees of use if paired with a light knit hat. The softshell material kept the wind out even at 30 mph on the coast and light rain just bounced off. It's been my experience that in the past 5 years manufactures have started sizing their clothes on the large side. I'm 5'8" semi muscular 160 pounds with unusually wide shoulders and I wear a small. This gives me enough room for a light fleece and a zip-t underneath without getting cramped. I also wear a small in Patagonia and Mountain Hardware so use this as a reference when ordering your size.

This jacket is great in the rain and windy weather although you would have to layer in chilly windy weather. I literally wore it right out of the box the same day I received it. Sleeves are longer than usual, but that's good for me, and it is a little short on length in the front. This jacket is also stylish and can be worn on the trails(packs up nice) or in town. Definetly a great jacket for the price!

I live in Illinois and this keeps me warm when the temperature dips below zero (when I layer with a light or mid-weight fleece). Good looking jacket that I wear around campus. I might consider using it while car camping, although it is unlikely that I would use this if I were traveling with a pack for any great distance. Overall, a good jacket that will do the job I bought it to do.

No room in shoulders. Had similar problem with other recent purchases of Columbia clothing. I like fitted clothing so long as it doesn't restrict movement.
