Overall a nice robe for the money, was a little concerned about ordering a coral colored mans robe. But I would decribe it as kind of burgundy.
Waffle pattern is a nice masculine accent. Not sure what the tie sown on the inside is for(just on 1 side) guess I could just cut it off. Perfect if you are looking for a light, comfortable robe to throw on after a shower and reasonably priced. some of the construction inside a little off(seams exposed). but then again this is not a high end priced robe. light enough you can hang this on a lighter duty hook
“Has anyone tried to wash this in the dryer? I am leery of buying something that is "hang to dry" - we live by the ocean and except in the summer when it's warm and windy enough to dry stuff outside it's so damp here "drip to dry" tends to mean "invite to mold"!”

The meaning of a "self tie belt" is simple a belt that you must tie your self! Kind of confusing, Sorry!

It simply means that it is one long belt made out of the same fabric as the robe and you tie it, no buckles just fabric.

That phrase is a bit of an overstatement, but I think it means you need only loop the ends over each other -- no buckle.

It means you tie it yourself.

“My husband is 5'8" and weighs about 240lbs. Stocky build. He usually wears an XL in shirts. However, the XL from the description on this robe seems like it may be too big. Wondering if I should order a L instead??? Any thoughts???”
