4.0 out of 5 stars. Great Rod for the Price!Verified Buyer Reviewed by Caltroutguy from California on Tuesday, February 3, 2015After doing some online research I added a Cortland Brook Series 8'6" 4 wt to my growing collection of fly rods. Sierra Trading Post had a great sale that couldn't be beat! The rod arrived just a few days later and the first time I cast with it I was amazed at how much "feel" it had compared to my other rods. The rod loaded very well and cast the line straight and true. The presentation was softer than any of my rods, even my old 4 wt. Its also quite light and feels very nice in the hand. I rated it only four stars because of three reasons: 1) the alignment dots on my rod are a little off, especially on the butt section Not a big deal for me, but it might be for others. 2) It comes with a nice cordura rod/reel case, but not with a separate rod sock. The case has built in separate cloth sleeves for the rod sections. This didn't bother me, but again it might be a negative for others. 3) Although I fished with it a couple of days ago, I didn't hook anything (my fault, not the rod's!) so I can't say how it handles fish. Other than that its a winner! I liked it so much I ordered the 5 wt to replace my current 5 wt TFO rod!

5.0 out of 5 stars. Under rated rod! Great price!Verified Buyer Reviewed by MW from Florida on Wednesday, January 21, 2015The Cortland Brook and Big Sky series might be the most under rated rods out there. It's a shame they've discontinued them. But its also GOOD for us because they are being blown out at ridiculous bargains. I would rate this rod as more on the fast side of Med-Fast. Beautifully made and appointed. Crisp action with great feel. Highly recommended especially with STP's frequent and generous sales and coupons.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Great packageVerified Buyer Reviewed by TigerMom from CT on Thursday, December 4, 2014Bought this for my son to take to Montana to fly fish. This was the perfect package for him--included the rod, real, and decent carrying case. Looks of high quality and has a life-long guarantee. Bought it at a great discount so it'll be a wonderful present under the Christmas tree.

3.0 out of 5 stars. Cortland Brook Series Fly Rod, 4pcVerified Buyer Reviewed by redeyehawk from New Hampshire on Thursday, October 2, 2014I bought a 5wt, 8'6" and I was very pleased. The rod is what I expected and wanted, stiff and med to med-fast...laid the line out like an arrow, it is a beautiful rod at an amazing price.
