    The Cortland Carisma 4pc 5-6 wt outfit is a good choice for a quality, inexpensive setup to use on trout and other 2-4 lbs fish. It has more of a 5wt feel with moderate action. If you are looking for a general rod and reel to get some line in the water, this is a good choice. All around good, simple, works, nothing fancy. Buy it.

    I have many different brands and prices of fly equipment. The price for this outfit is unbeatable for an extra rig and allows me to keep this rig in my truck so that when I'm not on a fishing trip with my regular gear, I have this backup in my truck if I stumble across a nice, unplanned fishing spot.

    Reel broke after 45 mins on my first day out, and didnt catch a fish or abuse it in any way, didnt even get it wet. Reel is free spooling, drag does not work, and no longer makes that clicking noise when realing in...I am dissapointed and will be sending this one back. Rod appears to be decent but time will tell. This would be a great learner set up, if it didn't break.

    I haven't actually tried this out yet. It seems o be a full flex rod. The ferrules fit together quite well, but it has an inexpensive build as does the lightweight, rather basic reel. I bought it as a spare for my kids or friends who want to try fly fishing and for the price I paid of well under $100 it seems worth it. It comes with backing and flyline separate from the reel and leader, but no extra tippit material.
