Reviewed by Mary from Sacramento on Tuesday, November 12, 2013The good:
I tested these on a overnight backpacking trip in very windy and cold weather. They felt warm, but not super warm because they are midweight. They are nice to wear as they feel just like thick tights in the way they stretch and seem to breath like tights as well.
When I first tried them on, I noticed a very itchy part in the back where the tag is and, upon closer inspection, found that they used nylon thread (much like fishing line) to sew the tag in and it was very pokey. I tried to ignore it, but it just got worse. Luckily I have a seam-ripper and I very carefully (as to not harm the other treads or the material) picked the seam out. On the down side, the tag came out with it, but at least I can wear them without that part itching.
Additionally, I feel the itch of the wool just a little, even though it's merino. Nothing I can't live with, but if you're really sensitive, you might not want to wear these. You do get used to it though.
Reviewed by Nancy in cold Leadville from Leadville, Colorado on Saturday, October 26, 2013Not only did these not fit well, they just weren't nearly as good of quality as the SmartWool I bought at the same time. Sent them back.
Reviewed by Reinerrider from Arizona on Thursday, October 17, 2013I absolutely love this product. Midweight without bulk. They have ribbed areas to help with a close fit without being tight. I ordered a second pair, as well as the matching top. The touch of nylon and spandex allow a close fit with no movement restriction. These are by far the most comfortable base layers I have tried. They are expensive, but worth it.
