Crazy Creek S.O.T. Full Air Kayak Chair III

Although the idea for this product is good, the execution is quite possibly the worst I have seen. There are several design flaws on this item: - Pockets for the air bladders are just open, allowing water/sand/etc. to get inside the pockets. This is a cleaning and wear and tear nightmare. It also allows the cushion to move around and shift, there is nothing to hold it securely in place. - Valve for inflating the bottom cushion is placed directly under the right leg. If you are buying this to relieve leg pressure DO NOT get it. The valve is perfectly placed to cause a pressure point on the thigh and is uncomfortable! - The fabric used for the air bladder pockets sticks to itself. I had to peel the fabric apart to get the air bladder to seat properly in the pockets. This is probably an OK product for recreational paddlers, only paddling for very short durations. If you are a serious paddler, or paddle for long durations or distances, this is NOT the product for you. Spend your money on something better designed.

Total adjustment in firmness on both the back and seat

Very comfortable compare to sitting on bare plastic. Comes with some sort of weird plastic tube wrapped in packaging tape and a piece of black fabric sticking upright out the back of the seat... fishing rod holder? Interfered with the original fixed seatback, but was easy to remove.

I've been paddling for roughly 10 years and have used a number of different Kayak seats on different Kayaks. This is the second unit I have used which has air. There is something about how the air chambers are or are not constructed on this unit but it gives you a unstable feeling. After letting out some air it got a little better but that made the sitting more uncomfortable. Might just be my Kayak.

The product seems to lose air quickly

Great way to enhance the functionality of your sit on top kayak. Only thing that would make it better is if it functioned as a regular crazy creek chair when de-attached from the kayak for comfort on the bank or shore.

First probelm is difficutly with air bladders lining up and getting seat to be upright properly. STP's photo is wrong, needs to show straps attached to the top of the seat. Second - when the bottom bladder is full, it raises the center of gravity too high for my boat. When the bladder is lowered, then there is a flex that creates a delayed response in handling when you lean. Cuased some touchy moments once in an extreme tidal zone with upwelling currents and also offshore with only moderate windchop - feels worse at night. OK for wide kayaks or flat water. Pro - Kept my bottom warmer than my gel seat when lobster fishing at night. Also reduces the leg cramps I can get from 8 hours on the yak. A tweak to the airbladder design (more aggessive waffle and thinner) should make the concept more functional.
