    Despite the short battery life (when it's on)it is a very bright well made light. Since I don't plan to use it often, I like the long shelf life of the CR123 lithium batteries vs alkalines

    This is not your typical cheapy compact flashlight. Single bulb is brighter than any other compact LED flashlight I've owned. Solid construction. Should work great for backpacking. Comes with nylon belt case. Uses single CR17345 battery. Don't know about battery life (rated at 2.5 hrs) but batteries aren't cheap, $5-$6 a piece at local hardware or drug store.

    Great flashlight. Bright and lightweight. Just understand batteries get expensive for this flashlight and won't last you long. [$]for 2 1/2 hrs. Like it I debate bringing it when I know I'll get short life out of my batteries. Not good for camping much past overnight.
