    No, I would not recommend this to a friend
    Not bright enough compared to common "3 batteries, 4.5V" headlamps. Although it may be use as a reading light but diffuser doesn't provide an effective throw(see attached photo). Suggested improvements: Spring clip, brighter LED, better diffuser.
