I bought this hoping it would be a good compact emergency and camping light. Seems to fill the bill. It has a single very bright (.5 watt) LED that runs off of 3 AAA batteries. The ability to change it from a lantern to a flashlight is a good feature. It has a well-focused beam when used as a flashlight and provides good coverage when used as a lantern, although the collimator/reflector can beam that very bright LED right in your eye if you don't have it placed or adjusted right. Adjusting the amount of lantern light with the sliding collar can help you get just the right amount of light you need. The construction seems solid. The switch is easy to use. Battery life is excellent.

Great for around the house and outdoors. Have one for my own use and have given them as gifts. A wrist strap would be helpful. Easy to carry in pocket or purse. Can be used as lantern which is a big plus.

I know some others felt this lamp was too dim, but I felt it was perfectly calibrated for camping when you really don't need the level of light you may be used to at home.

Great light. Latern feature works really well. I have a 3 year old and we werre on a trip and forgot a night light. Extended the light to a lantern and left it on all night - for two staight nights - so she could see if she woke up, and after 20 hours of use the batteries are still working (though they are getting dim). Love the light so much I bought a second!

Use the product exclusively for hunting, camping and late night/early morning outdoor activities. Product works well and projects bright LED illumination. Hat brim mounting is convenient as it eliminates removal and carrying of hat itself. On/Off switch=ease of use. Carry a spare battery in the field. BE CAREFUL when mounting on hat brim as item has two easily breakable plastic clips.

This is an excellent backup light for all travel and backcountry uses. It is a little dim for primary use, but very compact, lightweight, and functional as a secondary lamp.

For the price, it's worth picking one up just to see if it fits a niche in your flashlight collection. I like it for close tasks that don't require a lot of light. For example, it's perfectly adequate for moving around in a pitch dark barn or garage. Don't know about durability yet. The plastic "ears" that clip it to the hat may be the weak link.

I use them as dog collar lights--great to see and be seen at night. Lightweight, easy to use. I had to duct tape the strap to the light so it won't come apart from the lamp, but since then no problems. Great for the price!
