5.0 out of 5 stars. What a great boot!

These are wonderful if you hike a combination of dirt trails and rock trails. I spent three days testing them on a variety of trails around Mt. Rainer and what a difference in how they feel over my high top trail runners. Fantastic support if you like a stiff boot and I was able to easily negotiate terrain without poles coming down some slushy steeper parts of the trail. The rubber proofing around the sole keeps out puddle water and snow but I suspect that unless you waterproof them, they won't do as well in streams. Most surprising is how they feel compared to pure hiking boots. Much stiffer but towards the end of the day I really appreciated it and so did my back. I can't wait to test them on the rockier areas around here as well as the Pacific Crest Trail.

  • 2.0 out of 5 stars. Overpriced

Purchased and put to use in June 2015 by July three of the eight metal J hooks broke off and had to be drilled to be able to still use the boot. The sole is separating from the cushion at the mid-sole and the rubber rand is starting to peel. Other than those complaints the shoe fit great and worked well for me as a tree climbing arborist.

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Great support on trails

I'm familiar with the company from my time in Europe but still, one never knows since everything these days is made in China. I'm going to take them for a test drive this weekend but in walking around the house and environs, what a difference from my older boots. These have a much stiffer feel, partly because they're new and partly because they go higher up the ankle. Trails here in the Pacific Northwest a a combination of soil, water, mud and rocks. You need a solid boot with either a day pack or overnight pack. These have such a great feel and I like the way that the boots force my ankles forward. We'll see how they do in the real world but for now, they seem like they'll do the job.
One caution, if you have narrow fee as I do, you will find your foot sliding around unless you lace them very tightly. First thing to do is to buy a spare pair of laces and into the backpack they go.
  • 3.0 out of 5 stars. TOO BAD

After years of buying and using Asolo brand shoes I found Asolo to be more accommodating for my feet. Immediately upon trying the Dachsteins on I did not want to take the chance that they might work out. It is to bad as I really like the look of the Dachstein boot !!! Thank you SIERRA for making returns so easy !!!
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Great Look/Comfortable

I recently purchased these hiking boots from your site. They were instantly comfortable with the leather lining which formed to my foot. The Vibram outsole will definitely last a long time as well. They look great with jeans, etc. for everyday wear but supportive enough for hiking as well. I'll be wearing these for years to come.
