Dahlgren

The wool/alpaca blend is absurdly comfortable. So soft, but with all the wool-like properties that you want in a good heavyweight sock. Used them on a cold Scotland trip for 10 days (pretty much all 10 days). They didn't smell too bad and then stood up to some heavy hiking. I will use them in the winter as well. With liners or alone, you're good to go.

These are the best pair of socks. I am wearing them with my work boots all day and they are extremely comfortable. The cushioning is great. Very hard to find a pair of socks of good quality with thick cushioning, but the Dahlgren Alpaca Backpacking Socks are simply the best, Will be buying more of them.

Lately, I've been wearing heavy engineer boots when I wear khakis or jeans. I manage I.T. systems and am on my feet a lot. Since I work in a large city - once the car is parked, I walk everywhere I need to go (within a mile or so). The other day, just walking down the street on my way to lunch I actually noticed how comfortable these socks are. I don't think I have ever noticed 'Comfort' in a sock. It was a warm day but my feet were cool. Would be great for hiking or for off slope wear during ski season. They come out of the wash good as new.

EVery time these socks go on sale, I buy more for both myself and my husband. They are the most comfortable socks I have ever worn and the women's wash well. For some reason, the men's don't seem to turn out as well in the wash, and, for the life of me, I can't figure out why because both mine and my husband's are washed together. Weird! But, aside from that, my husband also just loves these socks, and when they are on sale, i almost always buy more. They are fantastic!

Usually wear SmartWool...thought I'd try these out. They are very soft and comfortable. I have done a couple of long hikes with them and they stay in place and keep my feet dry and warm. They are definitely very thick, though. They barely fit in my boots so if you don't have much room in yours, these might be too heavyweight. For winter they should be great for snowshoes and cross country skiing. I don't know how durable they'll be yet.

The sock pictured is different from the ones I bought - I have the green & brown striped socks. They are awesome & so far I like them better than any other brand, including smartwool. Can't comment on durability as have only had them a short time.
